Match Report: NRL Round 11 vs Rabbitohs

Wests Tigers’ two-match unbeaten run has been ended by a 20-0 defeat to the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Accor Stadium.

Wests Tigers trailed by just six points for a large portion of the match before conceding two late tries as the Rabbitohs ran away with the victory.

Both sides engaged in a tight battle across the first 25 minutes, with neither side able to trouble the scorers.

South Sydney unsuccessfully launched a number of raids down both edges, while Jahream Bula passed several examinations under the high ball.

After a promising attacking set for the visitors, Junior Tupou was penalised for a mid-air tackle on Taane Milne.

The infringement put Milne in position to score the first points of the afternoon with a simple try on the right edge.

Milne’s effort would prove to be the only try of the first half as Wests Tigers were unable to convert their 95% completion rate into points.

South Sydney got the first points of the second period through a penalty goal from Latrell Mitchell.

Starford To’a came within inches of getting the visitors on the scoreboard but was held up over the line.

At the other end of the field, Asu Kepaoa put a try-saving tackle on Taane Milne to keep his side in the match.

However, Milne wouldn’t be denied as he completed his double by finishing a slick left-to-right shift.

Latrell Mitchell then sealed the result with a barnstorming run to the try line.

Wests Tigers will now return to Leichhardt Oval to host the North Queensland Cowboys next Saturday.
