Match Report: Jersey Flegg Cup Round 17 vs Bulldogs

Wests Tigers have suffered a 38-28 loss to the second-placed Bulldogs in Round 17 of the Jersey Flegg Cup.

On a sunny Saturday afternoon at Lidcombe Oval, the home side took a two point into the break before being outdone by the Bulldogs in the second half.

Danny Gabrael scored first to give the visitors an early lead, before Jay Kirk crossed for Wests Tigers.

The winger’s left-side combination with Josh Feledy has proven to be Wests Tigers’ most potent attacking weapon this season.

After providing the neat assist for Kirk’s try, Feledy grabbed a four-pointer of his own, taking the 18-year-old's tally to nine for the season.

Teenage prop Damon Marshall bagged Canterbury’s next score, but Solomone Saukuru quickly hit back with a try on his Jersey Flegg Cup debut.

Saukuru, an outside back, is a graduate of the 2023 Wests Magpies SG Ball Cup team.

Solomone’s older brother, Lomi scored before the break, to give Wests Tigers a 20-18 lead at half-time.

The Bulldogs opened the second half with three unanswered tries to take control of the match.
