Match Report: NSW Cup Round 20 vs Knights

Western Suburbs Magpies have fallen to a 46-10 defeat to Newcastle Knights in Round 20 of the NSW Cup on Friday night at Mc Donald Jones Stadium.

A David Armstrong hat-trick led the Knights to their seventh win of the season, with the home side running away with the result in the second half.

It was the fullback, Armstrong, who posted the first score of the match, before towering winger Laitia Moceidreke furthered the Novocastrians' lead.

Brent Naden scored the Magpies’ first but was later taken from the field with a shoulder complaint.

Armstrong collected his double for the Knights before Wests fullback Israel Ogden grabbed a 35th-minute try to bring the Magpies within eight points at the break.

The second stanza was all Newcastle though, with Cooper Jenkins kicking off the scoring just seven minutes into the half.

Shortly after, Moceidreke bagged his double and Armstrong secured a hat-trick, with his 12 tries being the most by a fullback in this season’s KOE NSW Cup competition.

Rampaging back-rower Dane Aukafolau and experienced winger Hymel Hunt wrapped up the point-scoring late to ice a substantial victory for the Knights.
