Match Report: NSW Cup Round 24 vs Warriors

Western Suburbs Magpies have succumbed to a 26-16 defeat to the Warriors in Round 24 of the Knock On Effect NSW Cup.

The home team shot out to an early lead through Patrick Moimoi, and the New Zealand side collected two further unanswered tries through Leka Halasima and Viliami Vailea.

The Magpies’ first points of the afternoon came in the 38th minute via NSW Cup debutant Josh Feledy.

The 18-year-old centre has previously proved a standout for Balmain’s SG Ball Cup and Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup sides this season.

Leading 16-4 at half-time, the Warriors burst out of the blocks in the second stanza, with fullback Setu Tu grabbing two four-pointers in quick succession.

The Magpies scored two late tries through Aitasi James and Tommy Talau to threaten a fightback, however the Warriors lead was too much to overcome, with the home team emerging victorious, 26-16.
