Staines inks new deal

Wests Tigers is delighted to announce that Charlie Staines has signed a new playing contract with the club ahead of the 2024 NRL season.

The new two-year deal will see Staines remain at Wests Tigers through until at least the end of the 2025 season.

The 23-year-old winger is eager to get back to his best after an injury-marred first season at the club.

“It was a difficult first season here for me with the ruptured bowel, but the club was so supportive through that time,” said Staines.

“I want to have a strong pre-season and then hit the ground running next year.

I love it here at Wests Tigers and I’m excited to be with this group for at least another couple of years.

Head coach Benji Marshall says the club is thrilled to have Staines on board for a further two years.

“We love what he brings not only as a player but also as a person,” said Marshall.

We’re all looking forward to seeing Charlie play some great footy for this club.

Wests Tigers CEO, Justin Pascoe is also pleased that Charlie is remaining at the club.

“He had a horror run with injury last season but always remained positive and professional with how he went about his rehab,” said Pascoe.

This club means a lot to Charlie, and we are delighted that he’ll be with us next season and beyond.

Staines scored three tries in nine appearances for Wests Tigers in 2023 after crossing for 23 tries in 38 appearances in his three seasons at Penrith Panthers.

Charlie has rejoined the squad for his first week of pre-season training along with several senior players who are back on deck, including Api Koroisau, David Klemmer and Adam Doueihi.
