Under 16s through to Grand Final

Macarthur Wests Tigers have qualified for the Grand Final of the Andrew Johns Cup after defeating the Newcastle-Maitland Region Knights 14-6 in Singleton.

The team will play the Central Coast Roosters in the decider next Sunday in Cessnock.

Our Under 16s outscored the Knights three tries to one after leading 8-nil at half time.

Centre Elijah Sefo crossed first after 18 minutes with Andrew Sio adding a second just before half time.

Sio’s second row partner Jermayne Faafi then scored midway through the second half with Forgiveness Tila adding the extras, before a late consolation for the Knights.

The Grand Final of the Andrew Johns Cup will kick off at 10:30am on Sunday 24th March at Baddeley Park, Cessnock.

Our Under 18s were also in action in Singleton, aiming to book a place in next weekend’s decider in the Laurie Daley Cup, but were beaten 28-16 by the Northern Tigers.

It was a missed opportunity for the U/18s who fell away badly after establishing a 16-nil lead. Like the U/16s, our Laurie Daley Cup team also lost just the one match in the regular season.
