Adam Doueihi discussed the significance of last Saturday's win over the Dragons, acknowledging the grit it took to come away with the two competition points despite not delivering their best performance.

The Lebanese international spoke about how the team’s belief is building, but remained cautious, stating that they must avoid getting ahead of themselves given it’s still early in the season.

Doueihi also reflected on the impact of his goal-kicking, admitting that he puts a lot of work into his kicking game and that it can prove crucial in tight contests.

"I do a fair bit of work on my goal kicking.

"Some games I strike them better than others,  but I'm always on the training paddock, trying to practice and make sure we go up by sixes, not fours.

"It does make a difference, especially in the close games."

Powerful prop Royce Hunt provided his thoughts on the team’s evolving dynamic.

He shared how the squad is becoming more connected, with players like Jarome Luai and Terrell "The Temunator" May leading the charge in setting a high standard.

Hunt credited May's relentless work ethic, which has had a positive influence on the team. He also recognised May’s standout performances and stated that the big prop is a deserving contender for New South Wales selection.

The 29-year-old also noted the influence of the squad's pre-season camp.

"Benji got us a beauty on that one, he told us it was a bonding camp, we got off the bus and went straight on a run.

"I guess it showed a lot of boys what they're made of and opened their eyes a bit.

"It was a pretty tough and gruelling two-and-a-half, three days but I guess it just showed us what we can do and what we're capable of."

Fonua Pole echoed similar sentiments about the team’s progress, citing the addition of experienced players who have helped raise the standards across the club. He also highlighted the influence of Terrell May, whose impressive work ethic and commitment to fitness have inspired him and his fellow middle forwards.

Pole also spoke candidly about his relationship with the Samoan international, noting that although they often joke around off the field, May’s example of discipline and dedication is something he has learned from.

"I think he's probably the best prop in the game right now, if not, top two.

" He's just set the standard with his work ethic and I think he's rubbing off on everyone.

"We always have a crew going in on our off days just to drive that standard of doing extras and the one-percenters.

" He's a bit of a joker and stuff, so we don't talk about the game, but I think I just pick up from observing and seeing what he does."

Recently recovered outside back Charlie Staines reflected on his return from a hamstring injury, feeling grateful to be back on the field and contributing to the team’s success.

Despite the frustration of being sidelined for five weeks, Staines expressed his satisfaction with the team’s recent victories and his personal performance.

Charlie also acknowledged the fierce competition for spots in the team but emphasised the importance of staying prepared and putting his best foot forward every day.

"It's always a hard spot to get into the first grade team here.

"There's plenty of quality outside backs, so a spot opened up and I had to grab it with both hands.

"You've got to come training every day prepared and the spot's always open, got to put the best foot forward every day."

Wests Tigers take on the Melbourne Storm at AAMI Park on Sunday afternoon.
