Wests Tigers vs Penrith Panthers
Sunday, 7 June
CommBank Stadium, Sydney
Tickets: via Ticketmaster
Kick-off: 2.00pm
Broadcast: Live on Fox League and Kayo Sports

As the matchday charity partner, the Royce Simmons Foundation will be the beneficiary of fundraising throughout Sunday’s match day at CommBank Stadium.

Simmons – who recorded 10 caps for the Kangaroos – founded the Royce Simmons Foundation in 2022 following his diagnosis with dementia and has since been working tirelessly to tackle the disease head on.

Serving as Assistant Coach at the Wests Tigers for eight years – including during the Tigers’ 2005 Premiership triumph – Simmons remains a much-beloved member of the Wests Tigers family.

A one-club player for the Penrith Panthers, Simmons recorded 238 NRL games across 12 seasons and lifted the Premiership trophy in 1991.

Wests Tigers interim CEO Shaun Mielekamp is proud of the Club’s support of the cause.

“The Royce Simmons Cup has been going since 2022 and we see it as a really good opportunity to elevate this match in particular,” Mielekamp said.

“It’s a big fixture for us and both Clubs really want everyone to get behind it, raising awareness and funds for Royce’s foundation, supporting people living with dementia.

“Royce was with us for many years as a coach, including as an Assistant Coach in 2005, he’s been a really important part to our Club and to Penrith Panthers as well.

“This is an example of something that rugby league does so well, we get behind a cause, we turn that match day energy into something that means something, it’s a great opportunity.”

All funds raised on match day will be directed towards the Royce Simmons Foundation, which works toward their mission to raise awareness, fund vital research, and support those living with dementia, their friends and families.

Measuring their impact by the change they inspire, the charity funds dementia research through multiple Australian universities with the goal of expanding medical understanding of the disease.
