Wests Tigers will need to overcome a short turnaround and a trip to humid Townsville if they are to claim back-to-back victories in the NRLW this Saturday.
The Tigers got off to a blistering start to their season with an impressive 28-16 victory over the Parramatta Eels at CommBank Stadium last Sunday.
Awaiting them in Townsville will be a fired up North Qld Cowboys team who will be determined to bounce back following a 50-4 loss to premiers Brisbane Broncos last Saturday.
The Tigers will be hoping for another stellar performance from new half-back Raecene McGregor who will be playing in her 50th NRLW match this weekend. McGregor made three try assists and produced a fine kicking game in her club debut against the Eels.
Wests Tigers Coach Craig Sandercock says this week has been about ensuring the right preparation for the team given the amount of travel involved.
“We just had to prepare the best we can. The Cowboys have a good side. It’s going to be tough with a short turnaround,’’ Sandercock said.
“Raecene’s performance reflected her pre-season. She must keep that up week in, week out now because she set such a high standard.”
