Wests Tigers premiership winning prop John Skandalis couldn’t help but feel a sense of community pride after doing some work with Haymes Paint at his junior club in Minto.
A proud Macarthur man, Skandalis played his junior rugby league at the Minto Cobras club before going on to enjoy a distinguished first grade career with the Western Suburbs Magpies, culminating in premiership success with the Wests Tigers in 2005.
Skandalis attended Kayess Park, Minto, to join the hardworking and friendly team from Haymes Paint who kindly undertook a fresh paint job of the clubhouse.
They were joined by current Wests Tigers players Samuela Fainu and Heamasi Makasini, who proudly pulled on the overalls and rolled up their sleeves to help paint the walls.
Haymes Paint have a large community focus and part of their relationship with Wests Tigers is to give back to grassroots rugby league.

“The impact Haymes Paint had by refurbishing the clubhouse is huge, especially with young players coming through,’’ Skandalis said.
“They now have somewhere to train and place to come after school. It also helps bring families to the games.
“For Haymes Paint to be able to come out and give that support and be able to tidy up and give the clubhouse a bit of fresh paint was very much appreciated by everyone involved with the Minto Cobras. We can’t thank them enough.”
