The Wests Tigers are saddened to hear of the passing of former half-back Brian Smith, aged 59.
A naturally gifted player, Smith played 37 matches for the Balmain Tigers from 1991-93 after enjoying a very successful rugby union career as a dual international for Australia and Ireland.
A talented playmaker and exceptional kicker, Smith scored six tries, kicked 84 goals, and six field goals for 198 points in his time at Balmain.
He later had one season at the Eastern Suburbs Roosters in 1994.
“On behalf of everyone at the Wests Tigers, we offer our sincere condolences to Brian’s family," said Wests Tigers CEO Shaun Mielekamp.
"Brian will be fondly remembered at the Tigers for his achievements in rugby league and rugby union, as well as his contribution to the broader community following his playing career.
"Our thoughts are with Brian’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
