Wests Tigers senior development teams played their final games at Lidcombe Oval on Saturday in a triple header with mixed results across the day.
The Jersey Flegg Cup side had a nail-biting draw in their clash with the Rabbitohs, securing their spot in the competition's top five.
NSW Women’s Premiership vs Bulldogs: 30-14 win
Wests Tigers were triumphant in their season closer against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs to begin the first of three games at Lidcombe Oval.
The match opened with dummy-half Diamond Graham getting the ball off to second-rower Saige Tautalafua who powered through the Bulldogs defence, setting up an easy conversion for Jewel Faaui, for a 6-0 lead.
Minutes later, Tia-Jordyn Vasilovski hustled through the Bulldogs line for her first converted try for a 12-0 lead.
A try from the Bulldogs closed out the scoring for the first half, with the Tigers leading 12-4 at the break.
Soon after half-time, a long cut-out pass from Jetaya Faifua flew out to Vasilovski on the left wing to notch her second.
Two quick tries to the Bulldogs reduced the lead to 18-14 before Faaui converted her own try next to the posts for a 24-14 scoreline.
A Litia Fusi assist to Vasilovski saw her cross for her hat-trick. Faaui converted to finish a perfect day with the boot, kicking five from five, in the 30-14 win.
Wests Tigers finished the regular season in seventh place, just one point outside the top five.
Jersey Flegg Cup vs Rabbitohs: 24-24 draw
Wests Tigers secured a berth in the NSWRL Jersey Flegg Cup finals with a thrilling 24-all draw against South Sydney Rabbitohs at Lidcombe Oval on Saturday.
The Tigers only needed a win or a draw to claim fifth spot and it came right down to the final play of the game.
South Sydney captain and half-back Matthew Humphries missed a long-range penalty attempt in the dying seconds to win the game for his team.
It came after Humphries had earlier kicked a 43-metre penalty goal to give Souths a 24-22 lead before the Tigers equalised through a penalty goal to full-back Jack Attard in one of the most dramatic finishes of the regular season.
Wests Tigers opened the scoring in the fourth minute when some quick hands to the right saw winger Filipe Huahulu go over untouched in the corner for a 4-0 lead.
Seven minutes later, Huahulu again strolled over through another nice piece of backline play for a 10-0 lead.
The Tigers made it 16-0 after 23 minutes through a converted try to five-eighth Ryder Huth after he ran off a short pass from hooker and captain Jared Haywood to stretch out with one arm to score close to the posts.
South Sydney reduced the margin to 10 points through a try to five-eighth Taj Alvarez to make it 16-6 at the break.
The Rabbitohs scored the first try of the second half through a spectacular dive from winger Dwayne Lyons to make it 16-12 after 52 minutes.
The Tigers were caught napping on the last tackle when hooker Cody Hill dived over from dummy half for an 18-16 lead after 56 minutes.
The Rabbitohs then scored their fourth unanswered try when full-back Isaac Fotu-Moala showed some lightning pace to score in the corner for a 22-16 scoreline after 63 minutes.
A strong run down the left side by centre Glassie Glassie saw him find support in winger Heamasi Makasini who beat two defenders to offload inside for full-back Jack Attard to score behind the posts for a 22-all scoreline after 69 minutes.
Attard was then denied a try with three minutes to go on an obstruction call.
South Sydney then converted a penalty goal through Matthew Humphries from 43 metres out for a 24-22 lead.
The Tigers hopes looked dash until Souths were penalised for a hip drop tackle next to the posts inside the final minute. Attard converted the penalty goal for the 24-all scoreline.
However, the Tigers dropped the ball from a short restart before the ball touched an offside player to give Souths a penalty attempt.
Humphries then sent the ball right of the posts to give the Tigers a finals berth.
Knock-On Effect NSW Cup vs Rabbitohs: 44-16 loss
Western Suburbs Magpies didn’t end their season how they would’ve hoped, going down 44-16 to the South Sydney Rabbitohs at Lidcombe Oval.
The home side started on the back foot, letting in two tries to trail 12-0 after eight minutes.
An impressive cut-out pass from club debutant Josh Schuster to Starford To’a on the right edge saw him combine with winger Fiohiva Fainga’a to score a converted try for a 12-6 deficit.
The Rabbitohs then scored another two converted tries before To’a crossed for his second converted try just before half-time with help from Schuster for a 24-12 scoreline at the break.
South Sydney ran wild in the second half, crossing for five more tries to the Magpies' lone try to William Craig in the 56th minute.
The loss saw the Magpies finish the regular season in 10th place.
