McGregor claims RLPA Players’ Recruit of the Year Award

Gun Wests Tigers NRLW half-back Raecene McGregor has collected another award following her outstanding first season with the club.

McGregor has been named The Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) Players’ Recruit of the Year, as voted by players. 

McGregor joined the Wests Tigers this year after three seasons at the St George Illawarra Dragons.

She starred through the season and was central to the Tigers’ first ever NRLW finals appearance.

A winner of The Players’ Champion in 2022, the players have recognised McGregor’s adaptability and instant impact for the Tigers this season.

“Raecene McGregor’s influence in her first season with the Wests Tigers has been outstanding, and on behalf of the RLPA, I congratulate her on being voted the Players’ Recruit of the Year,” said Clint Newton, CEO of the RLPA.

 “Throughout her career, Raecene has shown how incredibly adaptable and professional she is.

“Having already won three NRLW premierships, she continues to show why she remains one of the competition’s dominant players and firmly in the prime of her career.

“In 2026, she moved to a new club, made an immediate difference and became a key player in guiding the Tigers to their first-ever NRLW Finals appearance. Congratulations to Raecene on this recognition from her peers.”

McGregor pipped Wests Tigers team-mate Shaylee Bent, Sheridan Gallagher, Stacey Waaka, and Jesse Southwell for the award.
