Four Tigers named in Fiji World Cup squad

Four Wests Tigers players have been named in the Fiji Bati squad for the 2026 Rugby League Men’s World Cup.

Api Koroisau, Sunia Turuva, Solomone Saukuru, and Josese Lanyon have been selected ahead of the World Cup starting on October 15.

Koroisau has represented Fiji in 13 World Cup matches dating back to his first appearance at the 2013 tournament.

The Wests Tigers captain enjoyed another fine season, culminating in him taking home the club's Players’ Player Award.

From his 19 games, Koroisau had four try assists, two-line breaks assists and ran 953 metres for an average of 50 metres per game.

Defensively, Koroisau made 775 tackles with a high efficiency rate of 92%.

It will be Koroisau's first time representing Fiji as a Wests Tigers player after joining the club in 2023.

Turuva has played four World Cup matches for Fiji, and like Koroisau, it will be his first time representing his country as a Wests Tigers player.

The winger scored five tries in his 21 games for Wests Tigers in 2026.

Saukuru has earned his debut World Cup selection following a superb season for the 21-year-old.

The proud Fijian recently signed a new two-year deal after making his NRL debut against St George-Illawarra in Round 24 this season.

He scored four tries in four games for the Tigers, including a double on debut.

Local Wests Tigers junior Josese Lanyon has also been named for his first World Cup.

Lanyon made his NRL debut against the Gold Coast Titans in Round 15 with Head Coach Benji Marshall describing the performance as ‘phenomenal’.

He played four matches at hooker for Wests Tigers in 2026.

Fiji has been placed in Group A with Australia, New Zealand and the Cook Islands.

Their first game will be against the Cook Islands on Sunday 18 October at McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle, at 4:05pm.

They then play Australia in Brisbane and New Zealand on the Gold Coast.

Fiji have reached the Rugby League World Cup semi-finals three times. The Bati were knocked out in the quarter finals of the 2022 World Cup by New Zealand in England.
