Board of Directors
An interim Board has been appointed to oversee the implementation of recommendations following an independent governance and culture review.
The Board has been reduced from seven members to four for the interim phase.
Barry O'Farrell (Interim Chair)
Barry O’Farrell brings a wealth of experience to the role as Interim Chair of Wests Tigers Board of Directors. The former Premier of New South Wales was appointed Chair of Wests Tigers in 2019, relinquishing his role later that year when taking up a role as High Commissioner to India. A long-standing Member of Wests Tigers and former CEO of Racing Australia, O’Farrell has extensive corporate experience with roles on the boards of the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Obesity Australia, New South Wales Rugby League’s Foundation and Diabetes Australia.
David Gilbert
David Gilbert has over 25 years’ experience in sports administration in Australia & the UK, including 12 years as Chief Executive Officer of Cricket NSW (2001-2013). He has served as a Director for the Bradman Foundation, NSW Business Chamber & the Sydney Cricket & Sports Ground Trust during this period. He was the President of the Western Suburbs District Cricket Club between 2014-2018 and played nine Test matches and 14 ODIs for Australia. Gilbert was appointed to the Board of the Holman-Barnes Group in 2021.
Geoff Squires
Geoff Squires joins the Board after more than 60 years as fan, supporting both Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers. A Sydney University and Macquarie University graduate, Geoff forged a successful career in the construction industry, specialising in roofing and timber supply. Geoff is a fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is a founding member of the Bentley Restaurant Group. A Concord United junior, Geoff played three seasons in the lower grades for Wests Magpies.
Danny Stapleton
Danny Stapleton is the Chair and CEO of Bull Capital , a successful Sydney-based investment management company. Danny played for Balmain Tigers for ten seasons, making his first-grade debut in 1993 against Western Suburbs Magpies. Formerly Chair of Wests Tigers Football Committee, Danny is the current Chair of Balmain Tigers.
