Teach: Harmony

Facilitating non-traditional educational modules, Wests Tigers Teach: Harmony focuses on healthy lifestyles, wellbeing, self-esteem and respect, aiming to encourage and teach students (stage 3-5) to be positive contributors in their community.

Wests Tigers understand the impact rugby league has on young people and the opportunity it presents for individuals to come together under a shared sense of belonging. This shared sense of belonging provides opportunities to students to reflect on their values and attitudes and develop the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary for them to practise and adopt sustainable and cohesive ways of living.

Wests Tigers Teach: Harmony is a non-formal educational program, including a combination of in-class modules and physical activity workshops encouraging students to reflect on their values and attitudes to understand the skills necessary for them to practise and adopt sustainable and cohesive ways of living.

The program reflects the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) NSW school syllabus, linking to the three skill domains of:

Self-management (S)

Interpersonal (I)

Movement (M)

Our participating schools have provided the following feedback:

“Program was great for our students. Students built a great relationship with Kenny (Community engagement Coordinator)- he is approachable and relatable. A great mentor. Our students struggle with goal setting and resilience. This will be something I endeavor to try an implement through continued mentorship. Even with a few planning challenges, Kenny and Bo engaged well with our students and facilitated activities to share the messages to our students. Keen to have this program amongst other grades.”

Fairfield High School

“Thank you so much for how your staff interacted with our students. The way that you have engaged with our kids and worked with them really made a significant difference.”

Glenfield Park School

“An excellent Program! Good team building through both theory and practical elements”.
