Head Coach Mick Potter has exclusively given Wests Tigers Members a preview of this week’s team ahead of full announcement later this afternoon.

After a stellar game from playmakers Mitchell Moses, Luke Brooks, Blake Austin and Robbie Farah against the Bulldogs, Potter will name the same ‘spine’ for the upcoming Dragons game on Sunday at ANZ Stadium.

“I was impressed by the younger three playmakers (Austin, Brooks and Moses), as well as Robbie Farah, who I though had an enormous game for us,” Potter said. “That’s off the back of our forwards, they did a really good job for us.”

“The forwards developed ruck speed, they had good line speed defensively and I thought they were dominate and really showed what we need to do in future weeks.

“I’m really happy with the young guys and with Robbie as the backbone of those players, they really showed some good touches and class plays.

“Take nothing away from our forwards as well, they don’t get any accolades for all the hard work they do in the middle.”

This week’s game shapes up to be a battle of the halves, with St George Illawarra’s pairing of Gareth Widdop and Benji Marshall up against young guns Brooks and Austin.

“It should exciting for the fans,” Potter said. “All those players have got different characteristics and different strengths to their game.”

“I know both Benji and Gareth can kick the ball well and have a really good knack of finding space when they do that.

“In saying that, I don’t think our young players are too bad at doing that either.

“It will be a battle with their feet, but also with their vision and hands, because they all can see space and they know how to create it for teammates.”

The two sides met earlier this year in the season opener, with the Dragons running out 44-24 winners at ANZ Stadium and Potter is hopeful of a different result this weekend.

“We need to be as physical as the other team, I thought we got out-muscled that day and were a little bit one-out,” Potter said. “It seems like an eternity ago and we are a better team now than at the start of the year.”
