Wests Tigers have today paid tribute to Kel O’Shea who passed away in Brisbane on Thursday at the age of 81.

Kel O’Shea played 111 matches for Western Suburbs between 1956 and 1963, and represented Australia on 32 occasions.

During his eight seasons with Western Suburbs O’Shea scored 30 tries and played in two Grand Finals, in 1961 and 1963, both losses to St George.

O’Shea made his Australian debut prior to joining Western Suburbs in 1954, scoring 10 tries in a 32 game international career.

O’Shea was named in both Western Suburbs’ and Wests Tigers’ Teams of the Century, the NRL’s Team of the 1950s and was selected as one of Australia’s Top 100 players of the Century.

The thoughts of Wests Tigers players and staff are with O’Shea’s family at this time.
