Wests Tigers centre Chris Lawrence spoke to the media on Friday about taking on South Sydney, saying he was looking forward to the blockbuster clash at ANZ Stadium.
"I think they're probably the form team of the competition," Lawrence said this morning.
"[They have been] for the last six months of last year and then they've shown throughout pre-season by winning a couple of those competitions and then [in] their first two games.
"They are the standout [team], and they are the premiers for a reason.
Having missed the Club's Round 1 win over the Gold Coast Titans, Lawrence returned to the side with an impressive performance against the St. George-Illawarra Dragons, and said he was looking forward — as always — to taking on the best team/s in the competition.
"I think this week will be a good test for us," he said. "We're still building on what we've started off with and what we've done over the pre-season, so it will be a good test for us.
"They're the premiers, and that's why you play footy — to come up against the benchmark and to challenge yourself against the best and test yourself to see where you're at."
"It's a challenge, and to have it set in front of us for Round 3 is really exciting for everyone."
