The North Queensland Cowboys are set to lose another gun player for Saturday's Round 11 clash against the Wests Tigers at Campbelltown Sports Stadium.

Having already lost Jonathan Thurston, James Tamou and Matthew Scott to State of Origin selection, in-form five-eighth Michael Morgan has now been called up into the side for Daly-Cherry Evans, who has been ruled out of Game I due to injury.

Morgan — a QAS Emerging Origin squad member — joined the Maroons team in camp on Wednesday, having scored six tries in his last three games for the Cowboys.

Having originally been named in the halves for Saturday's game marking 10 years since the 2005 Grand Final against Wests Tigers, the Cowboys are yet to announce who will fill his position, with Lachlan Coote moving from fullback the most likely replacement.

With Aaron Woods and Robbie Farah both missing for Wests Tigers this week, utility Dene Halatau has been named captain of the side for the first time in his career.
