Wests Tigers are pleased to announce the appointment of Mark O’Neill as the Club’s General Manager of Football.
A Life Member of the Club and Premiership-winner in 2005, O’Neill played over 200 NRL games, captaining Wests Tigers at the start of 2005.
The former second-row forward played 12 seasons in the NRL from 1994 to 2005, before spending two seasons in English Super League with Leeds Rhinos and Hull KR.
Since retiring from rugby league in 2007, O’Neill has been heavily involved with the National Rugby League, working on the NRL’s Match Review Committee.
Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said the Club was delighted to have O’Neill take on the role, saying that his knowledge of the game and current playing group would be an invaluable asset for Wests Tigers going forward.
“Mark has been heavily involved in the game, both as a player and an administrator, for more than 20 years and we look forward to having that experience at the Club,” said Pascoe.
“We undertook an extensive search to fill this position and had the highest calibre of candidates apply.
“We’re proud and privileged to have someone of Mark’s stature and standing in the game join us,” he said.
“Mark’s values represents those of Wests Tigers; not only does he understand the need to respect our past but he also shares our vision for what the future of this Club needs to be.”
O’Neill will begin in the General Manager of Football role in the near future once his current responsibilities and obligations are complete.
