Wests Tigers centre Tim Simona has been unsuccessful in getting his Dangerous Contact – Head/Neck charge downgraded at the NRL Judiciary this evening.

Having originally been charged with a Grade 2 offence following a tackle on Jack Bird in the final minutes of Saturday’s game against the Cronulla Sharks — which would have ruled out the Samoan international for two weeks — Simona pleaded guilty to the offence at the Judiciary tonight but was unable to get the charge downgraded to a Grade 1.

The result is that the representative centre will not only miss Sunday’s game against the Newcastle Knights at Hunter Stadium, but also the Club’s next two fixtures against the Melbourne Storm (Round 7, April 17) and Canberra Raiders (Round 8, April 23).

Wests Tigers have not named a replacement for Simona in this week’s team to face the Knights after the 24-year-old was originally named in the centres. The Club will finalise their team for the game at 3:00pm on Sunday, April 10 — one hour before kickoff.
