Wests Tigers Holden Cup side created a slice of history on Thursday night as they beat the South Sydney Rabbitohs 46-0 in their Round 9 clash at ANZ Stadium.

Coming into the match on the back of a 44-12 win over the Melbourne Storm and 50-16 demolition of Canberra, Willie Peters' side became the first Wests Tigers Holden Cup team in the Club's history to keep their opponents scoreless as they ran out 46-point winners.

In eerily similar fashion to what would transpire later that night in first-grade, Wests Tigers Holden Cup side came out firing in the match to lead 20-0 after 26 minutes, taking that lead into the half-time sheds before continuing the same way in the second half.

They would extend their lead to 46-0 as the match entered the final 10 minutes, and despite South Sydney having several repeat sets on their line to end the match, Wests Tigers were able to hold form and chalk up a special piece of history for all involved.

Wests Tigers Holden Cup co-captain Junior Tatola said the team's ability to keep showing up in defence was the most pleasing thing to come from the comprehensive win.

"Our defence has been superb and we're really backing that," Tatola said.

"It means a lot to us to keep that clean sheet. Willie always talks to us about the need to have strong defence and tonight showed how much the boys were really into it.

"Our defence is doing really well for us at the moment so the focus for us is just to keep sticking with that and not getting bored — we want it to keep being as good as it can be."

After Thursday's result, Wests Tigers now sit second on the Holden Cup ladder on 13 points, just one-point behind Penrith (who are yet to play Canberra for their Round 9 match). In their last three games, Peters' side have amassed an incredible 140-28 scoreline and will look to continue that form on May 15 when they take on the Canterbury Bulldogs.
