Wests Tigers utility Dene Halatau says being back at Leichhardt Oval will give the team a big boost when they face the North Queensland Cowboys this Sunday as the team looks to record their third consecutive win and continue their push to the finals.

Despite going into the match without halfback Luke Brooks, after scans revealed the playmaker would miss the next three to five weeks with a knee injury, Halatau said he was confident that playing in front of the Leichhardt faithful would lift the players on Sunday.

"Both our halves have been awesome for us this year, and they're really grown a lot, and obviously losing [Luke] Brooksy is a big loss for us but we're confident that anyone who comes in to the team knows what they need to do and we'll be right to manage without him," he said.

"It's a tough game for us, but playing at Leichhardt Oval on a Sunday is one of my favourite places to play, so hopefully we get a good turnout from our fans and Members.

"We want to show them that we can compete with the top teams.

"If we can come together and keep playing with the consistency that we've shown recently, we know that we can compete with the top teams in the competition."
