Wests Tigers second row forward Josh Aloiai has been named as the Club’s NRL Rookie of the Year tonight following an outstanding debut season in first-grade.
Joining the Club in the off-season from Parramatta Eels, Aloiai not only overcame a hip injury in the off-season to secure a spot on the interchange bench in Round 1, but soon went on to cement a starting spot in the side and feature in every game in season 2016.
Aloiai is the first Wests Tigers player to play every game in the season in his rookie year.
Just 20 years of age, the Glenora Bears junior played for the Junior Kiwis in 2014 as part of Parramatta’s Holden Cup side before making the move to Wests Tigers in 2016.
The powerful second row or prop forward finished the year with two tries and a try-assist in his rookie season, as well as averaging 18 tackles and 65 metres per game.
Wests Tigers congratulate Josh on being named the Wests Tigers Rookie of the Year.
