Wests Tigers Associated Teams and Junior Representative teams enjoyed mixed results over the weekend, with a number of impressive performances in trying conditions.
In Ron Massey Cup, Western Suburbs Magpies played out a 22-22 draw against highly-rated opponents Mounties RLFC — scoring four tries in the opening 20 minutes of the match.
Howver, in Sydney Shield, it was a disappointing loss for the Magpies, who went down 64-0 to a Mounties side that sits undefeated on top of the table after the opening two rounds.
With junior representative teams playing their fifth game of the year, Balmain and Western Suburbs both suffered tight defeats in SG Ball — the Tigers suffering their first loss of the season as they went down 22-20 to the Parramatta Eels, while the Magpies lost 48-22 to the Sydney Roosters.
The story wasn't much better in Harold Matthews, with Parramatta again getting the better of Balmain 42-18 while Western Suburbs lost 32-18 to the Roosters.
Wests Tigers Tarsha Gale Nines team were also in action on Saturday, falling 32-12 to a Sydney Indigenous Academy team which recorded their first win of the year.
