Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary and captain Aaron Woods spoke to the media following the team's thrilling upset win over the North Queensland Cowboys.

Forced to defend their line for the majority of the second half, Cleary said he was particularly proud of the resolve shown by his side against a dominant Cowboys attack at home.

"I think sometimes you get those games where you're in front, and you're probably not expected to be, and you just can't get it right — that was us for most of tonight," he said.

"But what was different was the way we kept defending it.

"You can't buy that sort of experience, so hopefully that helps us for the future.

"We might have snuck under the radar tonight, but it's on again next week.

"To get a win up here is a great feeling — the boys are very relieved," he said.

"We really made it hard for ourselves in the second half, but that's not important right now. What's important is how hard we worked and the resolve they showed throughout.

"It's a good piece of experience for a young team tonight.
