With Wests Tigers leading 20-12 shortly into the second half, North Queensland were always going to throw plenty at the visitors throughout the remainder of the match.

And that's exactly what they did, with a myriad of attacking sets on the visitors' line.

But time and time again, Ivan Cleary's side found a way to turn the home side away, with one set of six in particular in the 59th minute earning the VB Hard Earned Effort of the Week.

It began with a desperate try-saver from Aaron Woods and Elijah Taylor covering back on the inside to deny John Asiata a try. The following tackle, after a good shot from Michael Chee Kam, it was Chris Lawrence who stopped Michael Morgan before James Tedesco and Jacob Liddle showed great scramble to deny Coen Hess, who had already bagged two tries on the night.

Two plays later, it was Liddle again who somehow cut down Kane Linnett just shy of the line, before Jack Littlejohn dove back to collect Jonathan Thurston's kick and end the set of six.

With just 42 percent possession and 15 percent territory for the entire second half, it was truly a remarkable defensive effort from Cleary's side to hang on for a gutsy 26-16 victory.
