Wests Tigers centre Kevin Naiqama spoke to the media ahead of his side's blockbuster clash against the Cronulla Sharks this Saturday night at Leichhardt Oval.

After last Sunday's thrilling win over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bullodgs, Naiqama reflected on the win and how the squad handled themselves successfully throughout the key moments.

“We’re just focusing on what we can control and that’s footy and winning some games, which we did on the weekend," he said. “Our challenge and our focus is the Sharks this week and that’s all we can control — we're just going to continue to focus on football.”

“They’re a quality team, they won the comp last year they’re definitely a benchmark team. But for a footy player games like these is why you want to play footy as it really challenges you.

“They’re one of the best teams in the comp I reckon, there’s a challenge for us there leading into the rep weekend. We’ve done a bit of review on them now and have these two training sessions to prepare so all the boys are looking forward to the game.”

Considering last weeks’ close game and the need to back up in the second half and close matches, Naiqama speaks of the importance to stay focused.

“For us that’s been a focus, our second halves haven’t been that good so that’s something we’re working on and hopefully we can get it right this week and build it in for the next couple of weeks.”
