Wests Tigers NRL Head Coach Ivan Cleary and stand-in captain Elijah Taylor spoke to the media after tonight's heartbreak 24-22 defeat to the Cronulla Sharks.

After going down in the final play having led by eight points with five minutes to go, Cleary said it was a tough defeat for his side to take after playing gallantly earlier on.

"It's pretty obvious that that one is pretty disappointing," Cleary reflected.

"Our completions and better tackling needed to improve.

"We probably did a lot of things well up until the last few minutes to go up by eight, but our completions and edge defence just fell apart a bit under pressure which wasn't good.

"At the end of the day, a lot of that comes down to having young players out there.

"We're still trying to develop good habits that can stand up under pressure and those situations, so hopefully tonight is a good lesson on how it needs to be done for the full 80.

"It doesn't feel too good at the moment, but that's what it's about," he added.
