Lantrak Man of the Match: Round 4

Off the back of his brilliance in both attack and defence, Wests Tigers winger Corey Thompson has been named the Lantrak Man of the Match from Round 4.

Originally named at fullback but playing on the right wing to accomodate the inclusion of Tui Lolohea, Thompson showed his great versatility with another sensational performance on the flank.

His first key involvement came just before half-time with a spectacular finish in the corner to give Wests Tigers the ascendency heading in to the sheds, before backing that up with his second try of the match in the second half — this time capping off a length-of-the-field effort from Benji Marshall and Esan Marsters.

But the winger wouldn't rest on his laurels; instead, Thompson came up with another crucial try-saver midway through the second half to kill off any chance the Eels had at a remarkable comeback.

Thompson ended the game with a team high 17 runs for 130 metres, five tackle breaks and a linebreak. He also registered more kick defuses than any player in Wests Tigers' side and didn't make a single error.

Thompson's two tries against the Parramatta Eels have him as the team's leading try-scorer so far in 2018 and if the first month of footy is anything to go by, there should be plenty more to come in the year ahead!
