Win for fans with transport included in all NRL games at Bankwest Stadium

In a massive win for NRL fans across Sydney, return travel on public transport services will be included for all games played at Bankwest Stadium this season, commencing with the Parramatta Eels v Wests Tigers blockbuster on Easter Monday 22 April.

Event-goers will be able to catch the train, bus or other public transport services to and from Parramatta using just their event ticket or Club Membership, making public transport an attractive travel option for key events.

Nine Eels home games, four Wests Tigers home games and one Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs home game will include public transport to and from Parramatta.

Bankwest Stadium CEO Daryl Kerry today thanked the NSW Government and its agencies Venues NSW and Transport for NSW, as well as the Parramatta Eels, Wests Tigers and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, for agreeing to the public transport initiative.

“Bankwest Stadium has been built for the fans and we want every part of the event experience at this magnificent new stadium to be enjoyable . . . and making it easier and more affordable for fans to get to and from the games is a big part of that,” Mr Kerry said.

Transport for NSW Coordinator General Marg Prendergast said extra customer service staff will be on the ground between Parramatta Interchange and Bankwest Stadium for the first few events to help people safely navigate their way to and from the venue.

“We know this brand new stadium will attract crowds of up to 30,000 and we want to make it as easy as possible for spectators to familiarise themselves with access to the venue,” Ms Prendergast said.

“We’ll have our friendly pink T-shirt customer service staff located at Parramatta train station and bus interchange and along Church Street, assisting event-goers with wayfinding information so they quickly adapt to the walking route,” Ms Prendergast said.

Venues NSW CEO Paul Doorn said having return transport included is a welcome addition to the game-day experience.

“The Stadium is committed to working with its event partners to deliver the very best game day experience for fans,” said Mr Doorn.

“Having integrated transport for all NRL games at Bankwest Stadium this season is a welcome enhancement to everything else fans will experience at their brand new stadium.”

Bankwest Stadium is a short 10-minute walk from the Parramatta Transport Interchange in the Parramatta CBD with regular train and bus services running to and from the hub plus additional services will run on event days.

An accessible shuttle bus service for patrons with a disability or mobility impairments will run between Parramatta Interchange and the Stadium on event days. The shuttle will pick up and drop off customers on Argyle Street near the Interchange and on O’Connell Street outside of the Parramatta Leagues Club just north of the Stadium.
