Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that the club has partnered with Headspace, the world’s leading meditation and mindfulness app. As the first sporting team in Australia to partner with Headspace, Wests Tigers will provide all players, football staff and employees with access to the popular app.

Launched in 2010, Headspace has quickly become a global leader in meditation and mindfulness with specifically-designed programs better equipping athletes and individuals with all aspects of mental wellness.

Their extensive range of meditation tools and online offerings has allowed them to impact more than 42 million users in over 190 countries — developing partnerships with many of the world’s most reputable organisations.

Wests Tigers Head of Player Wellbeing and Education Josh Hussey said the new partnership further highlighted the club’s ongoing commitment to mental health and wellbeing.

“As a club, we’re both excited and proud to become the first sporting organisation in Australia to partner with Headspace,” Hussey said.

“We aim to give our players and staff every tool they need to be successful, and wellbeing is a key part of that. We strive to ensure Wests Tigers are community leaders when it comes to mental health, and this partnership allows our club to continue to flourish both on and off the field.”

Headspace’s Head of Sports and Fitness, Lindsay Shaffer added, “We all know that professional athletes go to great lengths to train their bodies, constantly in search of the next competitive edge, but often neglect the one thing that underlies everything we do: the mind. Meditation is like strength training for the brain, and can help increase our focus and decrease our response to fear.

"We’re thrilled Wests Tigers will be incorporating a meditation and mindfulness practice into their training program through this new partnership with Headspace.”

Wests Tigers players and staff will have access to Headspace’s comprehensive library of meditation content, including “Headspace for Sport,” which is designed to strengthen their mindfulness and meditation skills through a variety of 10-session “packs,” including Motivation, Concentration, Training, Competition, Communication, Analysis and Recovery.
