Wests Tigers women secure finals berth with big win

Wests Tigers Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership side have secured their first ever finals berth an outstanding 40-0 victory over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs today.

Having now won four consecutive games to sit fifth on the ladder with one game remaining in the regular season, the result caps off an impressive season for Wests Tigers in what is the first year for the club in the senior women's competition.

Wests Tigers will look to secure a home final next Sunday when they take on theĀ  Wentworthville Magpies at Campbelltown in the last game of the regular season.

The home side began the game in perfect fashion with Jessie Wharepouri steaming down the left edge inside the opening five minutes, before Blues star and captain Botille Vette-Welsh crossed for a quick-fire double to blow the scoreline open.

With a tough run of injuries forcing several long delays to the first half, it was Wests Tigers who continued their dominance in the second with tries to Tyler Pelligra and Simone Karpani extending the lead, before Vette-Welsh ensured it would be a successful day out as she completed her hat-trick with a wonderful solo effort.

Young playmaker Emily Curtain had a good afternoon out with the boot, landing six of seven conversions, to ensure Wests Tigers for-and-against would receive a helpful boost as they look to wrap up fifth position on the ladder next week.
