Wests Tigers five-eighth Ben Stevanovic

Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg head to the nation's capital today with their season on the line as they take on the Canberra Raiders in their Round 18 clash today at GIO Stadium.

After a strong start to the season, Wests Tigers' young guns have found themselves on the edge of the top eight and needing to win in order to keep their finals hopes alive — currently sitting in 10th position with eight games remaining.

A surprise win for the New Zealand Warriors over the top-of-the-table Cronulla Sharks sees Wayne Lambkin's side three points off ninth spot and two wins off seventh — the side they face this Saturday in the Canberra Raiders.

It was only a month ago that the two sides met at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in what was arguably Wests Tigers' most impressive performance of the season.

A dominant 28-0 win for the home side seemingly put their season back on track, but two tough defeats in the ensuing weeks has put them back in must-win territory.

Wests Tigers did post a strong come-from-behind victory over South Sydney in Round 16 prior to last week's bye, and that result will no doubt give the side plenty of confidence as they face off against Canberra. The Raiders have won just once since that game but will take plenty of confidence in to the game with just one defeat at GIO Stadium all year — an enthralling 40-34 defeat to the Warriors in Round 6.

Wests Tigers are boosted by the late inclusion of try-scoring centre Zac Cini but will be without five-eighth Max Burey after he was called up to the club's Canterbury Cup side. Gus Garzaniti returns to the halves to partner Ben Stevanovic.

Kickoff for the match is at 3:15pm AEST with live coverage via the Match Centre.
