Junior Reps Results: Round 2

After a washout in the opening weekend of the season, Round 2 saw the start of the year for Wests Tigers junior representative teams met with a number of disappointing results.

Balmain Tigers SG Ball were the pick of the teams over the weekend — coming from behind to defeat the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles 24-22 at Leichhardt Oval in what was the only win from the club's five junior representative games on Saturday.

The Tigers started fast to lead 18-0 before a Sea Eagles comeback in the second had the visitors in front with 10 minutes to play. A late try to Darcy Hoy would put the home side back in the contest, though, with Zane Camroux's fourth conversion of the day with three minutes on the clock saw the hosts home in a tight contest.

Elsewhere, Emmanuel Fatialofa scored a double as Wests Tigers GSR finished too strong for Monaro Colts in the Andrew Johns Cup while Western Suburbs almost sprung an upset over the Sydney in the Harold Matthews competition, with the hosts scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to hang on for a 20-14 victory.

Taj’h Colquhoun and William Craig both impressed for the young Magpies, while Justin Matamua stood out in a disappointing defeat for the SG Ball siide.

Round 3 will see Balmain on the bye in Harold Matthews before coming up against North Sydney in SG Ball while Western Suburbs face Cronulla and Wests Tigers GSR face St. George-Illawarra Dragons at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in a monster four-game program on Saturday.

Wests Tigers Tarsha Gale are on the road as they take on Canberra in the nation's capital following a heavy defeat to the Illawarra Steelers last week.
