Wests Tigers women cruise to first win of the season

In their first match of the 2020 season, Wests Tigers Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership side have claimed their first victory with a dominant 36-4 win over Brothers PJRLC.

The first win of their season follows a superb 2019 campaign that saw the side finish agonisingly short of a maiden Grand Final berth, with today's performance setting the standard for what will hopefully be another strong campaign.

New recruit Teagan Toa Toa kicked off the day with the first try of the day, before tries to young gun Tyler Pelligra and Ana Fekeila saw the visitors lead 14-0 at the break.

Captain Botille Vette-Welsh continued the try-scoring shortly after the break, before Fekeila and Toa Toa both grabbed doubles to blow the scoreline wide open.

With Emily Curtain kicking well despite the wet and windy conditions, the visitors would dominate to lead 30-0 late on before Simone Karpani's late effort extended the lead to 36.

Brothers PJRLC would grab a late try through Christine Pauli to get on the board, but it mattered little in the end as a big win for Wests Tigers moved them to second on the ladder ahead of next week's first home game of the year at Campbelltown Sports Stadium against the Central Coast Roosters.
