Judiciary Report: Round 1

St. George-Illawarra Dragons forward Tariq Sims is facing a week on the sidelines after his late hit on Josh Reynolds in the 76th minute of Sunday night's Round 1 win for Wests Tigers.

Sims was hit with a Grade 1 Dangerous Contact - Head/Neck offence from the Match Review Committee which attracts a 100-point charge, but prior similar offences see the charge increase in loading to a one week suspension.

Paul Vaughan was also charged with the same offence for an incident on Luke Garner in the first half, but is free to play in Round 2 with an early guilty plea given he does not have the prior offences of Sims.

No Wests Tigers players were reported by the Match Review Committee.

The charges close out a busy first week of the season for the judiciary, with Broncos forward Tevita Pangai Junior set for a four-week stint on the sidelines after his late tackle on Justin O'Neill, while Panthers forward Jack Hetherington will also likely miss two weeks after a high tackle on Roosters fullback James Tedesco.
