Wests Tigers passionate until the end in Semi Final defeat

Wests Tigers Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership season has come to an end with a 16-4 defeat at the hands of the North Sydney Bears in their Semi Final clash today at Campbelltown.

Despite giving their best against a Bears side that dominated field position and possession throughout the contest, Wests Tigers were unable to get their attack going when they needed it most and eventually fell to defeat as a result.

Sabrina Green got the scoring underway inside the opening two minutes, before the Bears' lead was doubled soon after when Shanice Parker touched down.

Australian international Botille Vette-Welsh got Wests Tigers on the board early in the second half with a weaving run to cut the lead to 12-4, and the home side soon started to build some ascendency as a result with attacking chances.

Filomina Hanisi went close to making it a two-point game late on but came up with an error to let the Bears off the hook, and the visitors would use that reprieve to put the game beyond doubt — Tyla Gambell scoring on the right edge for her side's third try of the afternoon as they booked their spot in the Grand Final qualifier.

Despite the defeat, it was another superb season for Wests Tigers in the Harvey Norman NSW Women's Premiership competition — backing up a finals berth last season with another strong showing this year under Coach Neil Stanley.

Players will now turn their attention to the NRLW competition which begins next month, with a number of new faces potentially set to feature across the game.

North Sydney Bears 16 (Green, Parker, Gambell tries; Leaupepe 2/3 goals) def. Wests Tigers 4 (Vette-Welsh tries; E. Curtain 0/1 goals) at Campbelltown Sports Stadium
