Strong end to trial fixtures for junior representative sides

It was a strong end to trial matches for the club's various junior representative sides as attention now turns to the start of the respective NSWRL campaigns on Saturday, 6th February, 2021.

After going down to Western Suburbs last weekend, Balmain bounced back with strong performances in both Harold Matthews and SG Ball — the latter piling on the points against South Sydney in a free-flowing attacking contest.

Rising stars Brandon Tumeth and Henry O'Kane — who both trained with the extended Wests Tigers squad up until Christmas — performed strongly for the young Tigers who ran out 40-6 winners over the Rabbitohs.

Wests' young guns also showed their attacking potency with a strong win over Canberra in Harold Matthews — running in seven tries to nil — while the SG Ball boys narrowly went down in a defensive contest.

In hot conditions, the club's two Macarthur Wests Tigers sides also had their first hit-out for the year as they faced Monaro. The Andrew Johns Cup and Laurie Daley Cup sides will have a fortnight to freshen up for their season opener in early February as take on the Northern Rivers Titans.

Rounding out the weekend was the club's Tarsha Gale side, who kicked off a five-game program at Moss Vale with their clash against the Raiders.

After strong wins over the Bulldogs and Eels, Wests Tigers narrowly went down to the Green Machine in an up-and-down performance from the girls, who will no doubt be determined to turn their form around ahead of their Round 1 match.
