James Tamou

Wests Tigers recruit James Tamou has achieved nearly everything a player can possibly in rugby league – from playing for his country, running out onto the State of Origin area and winning a premiership – yet his desire for success still burns strong.

His next goal is to see his new teammates succeed and give Wests Tigers Members something to cheer about in season 2021.

“I’m made some really good bonds with some of the boys here and some of them really love this team. You can tell Alex Twal and Zane Musgrove love this team and I want to see them taste success,” Tamou said.

“And the Wests Tigers have a pretty big fan base who haven’t had much success, but I want to give them something to be proud of.”

Since joining the club a couple of months ago, Tamou has liked what he’s seen so far at Wests Tigers – and he doesn’t just think the team can make the finals. His sights are on something far greater.

“Everyone’s goal is to make the top four. Everyone has a chance of winning the title if you finish in the top four,” he said.

“That’s have you want to think – how you have to think.

“Other teams aren’t just going to take a step back. There’s never an easy game in the NRL.

“This team has always wanted to win. That’s the first sign of a competing team. There are some great signs here.”
