On a night marked by a dominant team performance, Wests Tigers hooker Jacob Liddle played a leading role for his side as the hosts ended Penrith's winning run at Leichhardt Oval.

Fresh from inking a new, two-year contract extension with the club during the week, Liddle produced a monstrous effort at both ends of the park to help get Michael Maguire's side home for their first win at Leichhardt this year.

Liddle's biggest moment came in the 33rd minute when, after defending his line gallantly in the middle, the hooker raced on to an errant kick from Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards — showing a clean pair of heels to race 90m down the eastern sideline to score a crucial try and put his side 10 points clear.

The hooker would also have a say in his side's final try with a clever try assist for Stefano Utoikamanu to crash over late and seal the result.

Playing 80 minutes in the middle, Liddle finished the night with six runs for 144 metres with a staggering 119 touches of the footy — nearly three every two minutes.
