First Up Victory for NSW Women's Premiership

Wests Tigers’ Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership side has started their season with a victory, coming from behind to beat South Sydney, 16-10.

After falling behind early, Wests Tigers’ skipper Emily Curtain skipped past two South Sydney defenders to cross for a hard-fought try.

In a back-and-forth contest, Souths were next to score, before another outstanding run from Curtain in which she beat countless defenders, led to a Rebecca Pollard try off a kick two plays later.

Wests Tigers extended their lead 10 minutes later through centre Tess Staines, who burnt the opposing defence to score in the right-hand corner.

A late penalty goal from E. Curtain (who was best on ground) ensured the home side scored a first-up win.

With superstars Kezie Apps and Jess Sergis still to return, Wests Tigers look very promising for the season ahead and a great first-up performance will only cement their premiership hopes.
