Match Preview: Round 23 vs Sydney Roosters

After a week away in Tamworth, Wests Tigers have returned home and are preparing to face off against the Sydney Roosters at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday night.

The Roosters have proven to be a tricky opponent for the joint-venture, with Trent Robinson’s men winning fifteen of the past sixteen encounters between the two sides.

However, Wests Tigers will be boosted by the return of Ken Maumalo, with the Kiwi flyer set to line up against Blues winger Daniel Tupou in an exciting aerial battle.

Maumalo’s return sees Starford To’a shift to centre, while Alex Seyfarth will join the interchange bench in the place of Tyrone Peachey.

The Roosters have named an unchanged line-up with Oliver Gildart in the reserves after joining the club on a loan deal earlier this month.

With the new Allianz Stadium set to be unveiled in the coming weeks, Saturday’s battle between East and West could well be the final NRL game at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Balmain Tigers and Western Suburbs Magpies won a combined six grand finals at the iconic venue, so Brett Kimmorley’s men will be hoping to farewell the SCG in style.
