Wests Tigers coach Tim Sheens has named a 22-man squad for Sunday's season-opener against Gold Coast Titans at Leichhardt Oval.

The extended squad includes five players who are yet to play an NRL game for Wests Tigers, including recently appointed captain Api Koroisau.

Also in line to make their Wests Tigers debut are fellow recruits David Klemmer, Isaiah Papali'i and Charlie Staines.

Koroisau, Luke Brooks and Joe Ofahengaue will play their first games of the season after being rested from both Pre-season Challenge matches.

English recruit John Bateman, who only arrived in Australia on Friday, has not been included in the squad.

Also missing is winger Ken Maumalo, who injured his knee in the trial match against Canberra.

Sunday will represent another career milestone for Sheens, coaching his 250th NRL game for Wests Tigers.
