Podcast: BTR Episode 3 with Joe Ofahengaue

On episode 3 of Behind The Roar, Joe Ofahengaue talks about his strong family ties, his Munster man-crush, a tough pre-season, as well as last weekend's scuffle with Kieran Foran.

You can listen and watch this week’s episode of Behind The Roar, available on Apple, Spotify and also YouTube

We learn a whole lot more about popular Wests Tigers forward, Joe Ofahengaue in a revealing interview on the official Wests Tigers podcast.

A player of proud Tongan heritage, Joe explains more about his family’s strong influence on his career, and how correct pronunciation of Pacific Island names is a show of respect.

One of twelve siblings, he tells Behind The Roar (BTR) how his father’s ‘experiment’ turned into a childhood dream, and what it means to represent Tonga on the international stage.

Joe also explains where the team went wrong against the Titans and calls on Members and fans to fill the hill again on Sunday, as the team strives for its first win of the season.

He also speaks highly about how Wests Tigers helped make his 150th NRL appearance such a special occasion, despite a heavy loss to the Roosters.

With three children under the age of three, whose images are printed on his favourite pair of socks, there’s not a whole lot of ‘downtime' for Joe.

But he does reveal to BTR his love of making music, his obsession with Lebron, and his ‘man-crush’ on Storm star Cameron Munster.

After Sunday’s loss to the Titans, Ofahengaue admits there are a number of ‘key areas to improve on’ against the Knights on Sunday but says the team will not depart from its mission to play an attacking style of footy in 2023.

Joe also gives us a little background on his heated exchange with Titans half Keiran Foran.

In case you were wondering what set Joe off at Leichhardt last Sunday, it’s a ‘feud’ that dates back to his time at the Broncos.
