Pathways Preview: Round 4

It’s another big weekend for Wests Tigers pathways teams with eleven games in total, and six games back-to-back at Leichhardt Oval on Saturday.

Why not dust off the picnic basket and make a day of it at the eighth wonder with ten hours of footy squeezed into a jam-packed day.

It all kicks off with Balmain Under 16s Development team facing North Sydney Under 16s at 8:30am and bookending the day will be a trial match for Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup side against South Sydney.

Wests Tigers two junior women’s teams will take on the Bears, with our Under 17s chasing their third win of the season in the Lisa Fiaola Cup, and our Under 19s in search of their first win of the season in the Tarsha Gale Cup.

Our Balmain Harold Matthews (U/17s)  and SG Ball Cup (U19s) teams are both edging closer to their first wins of the season and will play back-to-back games against Melbourne Storm.

Wests Tigers NSW Cup team, Western Suburbs Magpies, is also in action on Saturday in a trial match against the Dragons in Mudgee as a curtain-raiser to the NRL Pre-season Challenge.

Wests Magpies Harold Matthews and SG Ball teams will take on North Sydney on Sunday at Hills Grammar, Kenthurst.  Our Under 17s are two from two, while our Ball team will be hoping to bounce back after its first loss of the season last weekend.

And it’s a big road trip for our two Macarthur Wests Tigers teams in the Andrew Johns (U/16s) and Laurie Daley Cup (U18s) competitions.  Both teams are unbeaten after three rounds and will take on the Monaro Colts in the ACT on Sunday.

Lisa Fiaola Cup (U17s) – Wests Tigers

Coach – Scott Clark

Again we have made a few changes due to players being unavailable and this will be a great opportunity for these girls that have come into the team. Especially playing at Leichhardt Oval.

This week against the Bears we will look to improve in certain areas that have let us down in previous games. Something the team has worked on at training during the week.

Tarsha Gale Cup (U/19s) – Wests Tigers

Coach – Adel Hage

After three losses to start the year we look forward to resolving some of our defensive issues on Saturday. The players have once again been very positive in training and as a group we are confident of a turn around in form this weekend.

Harold Matthews Cup (U/17s) – Balmain Tigers

Coach – Tony Bazouni

Coming off the bye the team is refreshed and eager to get back onto the field. This week's focus was all about working on our ill-discipline areas as well as effort on and off the ball. We will see club debuts for prop Zane Farr-McKay and David Pritchard.

SG Ball Cup (U/19s) – Balmain Tigers

Coach – Chris Yates

The boys are really excited to be back at Leichhardt for a big game against the Storm. Nehemiah Wuatai-Davis will make his debut for the Balmain Tigers and we wish him all the best.

Harold Matthews Cup (U/17s) – Western Suburbs Magpies

Coach – Stephen Isdale

The boys are excited to keep building on our last game and we will be focusing on playing the full 60 minutes of footy and sticking to our game plan. Our biggest challenge is finding consistency.

This week we see our rotation continue with the debut of Mase Hillcoat, Tomasi Tavui, and Brooklyn Milford. It's an exciting week for them and their families.

SG Ball Cup (U/19s) – Western Suburbs Magpies

Coach – Joey Saukuru

On the back of our loss last week the boys are eager to get their season back on track. North’s are a very unpredictable team and we’ll be prepared for a very tough slog. If we’ve learnt anything from the last couple of weeks, it’s all about starting well defensively and the rest will fall in place.

Andrew Johns Cup (U/16s) – Macarthur Wests Tigers

Coach – Harrison Fox

This weekend we travel to Canberra for our first away game of the season. We are coming up against a Monaro team that has nothing to lose. Our focus this weekend is putting forward a complete performance and being enthusiastic from start to finish.

Laurie Daley Cup (U/18s) – Macarthur Wests Tigers

Coach – Mitch Tyler

This is our first away game so will be a test for all players involved. After a few weeks up in SG Ball the squad is excited to have talented half Sonny Edwards-Moeke back with the team. After playing Monaro in the trial our squad has improved immensely and I’m again quietly confident if we hold the ball we will do enough to win the game.
