Wests Group Macarthur provide record funding boost for junior league

Wests Group Macarthur has today announced that $400,000 in funding will support the Wests Tigers Macarthur Junior Rugby League and Group 6 Rugby League in 2025.

The funding arrangement is the biggest single cash injection to junior rugby league by a third-party club in New South Wales. The commitment comes via the ClubGRANTS scheme and will support 23 clubs under the Wests Tigers Pathways banner.

The primary objective that this funding aims to provide is relieving costs for junior league families by alleviating registration and game day costs. Insurance subsidies and apparel rebates for around 6,000 junior league participants will represent equivalent savings per family of $60 per junior league participant.

Wests Tigers players such as Lachlan Galvin, Tallyn Da Silva and Heath Mason are all products of the Macarthur and Group 6 regions who have graduated to the NRL.

This financial contribution by Wests Group Macarthur will help ensure that Wests Tigers Pathways junior league clubs, players and participating families in the Campbelltown and Camden regions are sufficiently supported.

Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson celebrated Wests Group Macarthur's support of junior league.

Wests Tigers Head of Football Matthew Betsey praised the funding pledge as critical to the growth of the game in the southwest of Sydney.

“This level of funding will give more boys and girls the opportunity to play and enjoy rugby league,” said Betsey.

“The southwest Sydney region is one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. This funding will help grow the game as we strive for the Macarthur region to be the largest participation base in NSW.

“West Group Macarthur’s pledge is a shot in the arm to ease the financial burden on clubs to support players, families and the broader community to be involved in rugby league.”

A presentation confirming Wests Group Macarthur’s $400,000 funding commitment was held at half-time of Friday’s Round 1 NRL match against the Knights at Campbelltown.
