Young Tigers ready to roar in Fiji as Jersey Flegg squad takes on Kaiviti Silktails

The Wests Tigers Jersey Flegg Cup (U/21) team makes the trip to Fiji this weekend, heading to Churchill Park in Lautoka, to take on the Kaiviti Silktails.

The squad departs Sydney today, carrying both excitement and expectation as the young group prepares for a unique challenge in tropical conditions.

For Interim Head Coach Shane Sultana, it’s an exciting start to his tenure in charge of the U/21s group.

“The trip will be a fantastic chance for these players to connect and really put their mark on the competition,” said Sultana.

The plan will be to really build on our team connection in the coming weeks and this trip will definitely help with that.

“I'm very excited about the Jersey Flegg Head Coaching opportunity, especially having such a talented young squad, mixed with some experienced players that have a lot of ability.”

That youthful energy is evident in the Tigers’ squad selection.

Seven of the 18-man squad named for the match are SG Ball Cup (U/19) eligible players, who have been promoted to the Jersey Flegg squad following the conclusion of the junior representative season.

In last season’s corresponding match in Fiji, Wests Tigers defeated the Silktails 32-0 in their final match of the 2024 campaign.

Churchill Park is once again expected to be buzzing with local support, creating an electric atmosphere for what is shaping up to be one of the most memorable fixtures on the Jersey Flegg Cup calendar.
