Outstanding performances from Magpies youngsters, Luke Laulilii and Tallyn Da Silva, were key in helping Wests post their fourth victory of the season.
Izaac Tu’itupou produced an outstanding acrobatic putdown in the corner to grab the afternoon’s opening try for the Magpies, before two of Wests’ young brigade extended the lead.
The 18-year-old Laulilii broke numerous tackles and offloaded to Da Silva for a second Wests try, giving the visitors a 12-0 advantage.
Epa Navale then pounced on a Jayden Berrell grubber kick to allow Newtown to post points in the 33rd minute.
A Kurt Falls penalty goal went on to stretch the Magpies lead out to eight, and Solomona Faataape ensured the Magpies would take a 14-point advantage into the break, with a slashing try on the right edge.

It was Laulilii and Da Silva combining again to open the second half, as the hooker poked his nose through the line and offloaded for his fullback, who raced 65 m to score a brilliant try.
Reuben Porter was next to break the Jets line off a silky short-ball from Falls, as the big Magpies forward ran 25 m, drew the fullback, and passed to Krystian Mapapalangi for a fifth Wests try.
Tries to Taj Ford, Niwhai Puru and Blake Hosking gave the Magpies a scare late on, however they weren’t to be run down at Henson Park.

Magpies 32 (Tu'itupou, Da Silva, Faataape, L. Laulilii, Mapapalangi tries; Falls 6/6 goals) defeated Jets 22 (Navale, Ford, N. Puru, Hosking tries; N. Puru 3/4 goals) at Henson Park.
